The group comprises of Lawrence “Rooster” Lockard, Eddie Stovall, Willie Nash, Andre Shepard and Yolanda Fletcher.
Lawrence “Rooster” Lackard has been with the group for over 25 years, singing Bass and Baritone. Originally from Yuma, Arizona, Rooster’s father wanted him to continue the family business as a shoe cobbler, but Rooster wanted to sing Rock ‘n Roll music. From his first solo performance singing Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, to his career singing with American Bandstand Concert Tours and then to performing with other groups such as the Superbs and The Larks, Rooster has made music his life.
Eddie Stovall, dubbed as the Emperor of Soul, has also been with the group for 25 years, singing 2nd tenor and occasionally, baritone. Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Eddie began his vocal training at the age of 12 on the streets of New York City. Eddie has recorded and toured with Hank Ballard as a Midnighter, with the Superbs and had also toured with other renowed groups such as The Coasters and The Drifters. Although Eddie loves to sing, his favorite part of the show is when he gets a chance to personally meet and talk to the audience.
Willie Nash is originally from Mobile, Alabama. A professional baseball player, Willie was hit with a ball which contributed to his loss of sight. Willie joined the group in 1999 singing 2nd tenor and baritone. He has sung back-up for Little Richard, David Ruffin of the Temptations and popular groups such as Blue Oyster Cult, Little Ray and the Progessions and Sly Slick and Wicked before joining the World Famous Platters. He was also an opening act for Sonny & Cher. Willie loves singing and dancing and is as inspiration to everyone who sees the show.
Yolanda Fletcher grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana, singing and dancing at the age of 10 and realizing she wanted to perform in front of audiences. At the age of 18 joined a popular group called The Indys who opened for BB King among many other ventures before being the lone female member of the World Famous Platters. Through the years Yolanda has performed in many different areas of the country from churches to concerts, trilling thousands with her unique style and powerful vocal qualities. She enjoys singing many different styles of music which include gospel, soul, blues, R&B, standards, show tunes and pop but her greatest desire is to touch millions with her love of singing.
Andre Shepard was born in Greenville Mississippi, moved to St. Louis Missouri at age 5 where his parents encouraged him and his brothers to sing in church. Andre sang with various groups over the years until he signed with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ label with a group called Lo-Key, whom he charted a #1 spot on the billboard in November 1992.
The Platters came together in 1953 and formed a group that became well known for producing immeasurable timeless classics, creating a "one-of-a-kind" sensation. They were the most popular vocal group, recording just under 400 songs, selling over 89 million records, and receiving 230 awards that later helped them to be inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. The band's first hit "Only You" topped the charts in 1955. Throughout the 50s and 60s, several hits followed — "The Great Pretender", "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes", “Twilight Time”, “My Prayer”, "I'll Never Smile Again", "It's Magic," and many others. With their never-ending talents and abilities to capture the attention of any crowd, this group became the favorite of rock-n-roll, pop, rhythm and blues, and country listeners.
